Eleftheria Klontza is a Research Associate in the Waste Management Laboratory at the University of the Aegean. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of the Aegean (Greece) and an MSc and PhD from the Technical University of Crete (Greece). She has extensive teaching experience in the field of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, Wastewater Management and Ecotoxicology. She is the Managing Editor of the Global NEST Journal and is responsible of the organization of the International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST). Since October 2016, she has collaborated with the Hellenic Open University, supervising students of the Postgraduate Programme "Waste Management". In July 2020, she was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A). Her current research activities include the participation in EU projects such as the ReBoat - Circular Systemic Solutions for Sustainable Tourism in European islands by movable plant on a boat and co-creation with island stakeholders (Project funded under HORIZON-CL6-2024-CircBio-01-4, GA No: 101182350) and the UrbaQuantum -A novel, integrated approach to urban water quality monitoring, management and valorisation (Project funded under the Call: HORIZON-CL6-2024-ZEROPOLLUTION-02 - Clean environment and zero pollution, GA: 101180452) and in the development of a National Research Infrastructure for Shipping, Supply Chain, Transport and Logistics (ENIRISST, https://bit.ly/3PAdLTt, funded by General Secretariat of Research and Technology).
