Nikolaos S. Thomaidis is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and Leader of the Trace Analysis and Mass Spectrometry (TrAMS) Research Group. His research focuses on the development and application of advanced analytical methodologies for the determination of emerging contaminants in environmental samples, as well as on investigating their occurrence, environmental fate and ecotoxicological effects.

He has extensive experience in environmental monitoring and wastewater-based epidemiology, having coordinated and participated in numerous national and European research projects. He has a long-standing collaboration with the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP) and participates in the National Wastewater Epidemiology Network coordinated by the Hellenic National Public Health Organization (EODY).

His scientific output includes more than 510 peer-reviewed publications and over 21,000 citations, with an h-index of 83.
