20th International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology | CEST2027
1 to 4 September 2027, Thessaloniki Greece
Since 1989, the International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST) has brought together scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and civil society to present current research on established and emerging environmental issues. Over nearly four decades, CEST has grown into a forum where academia, industry and public administration meet, and where research, ideas and practical solutions support a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.
CEST2027 marks the 20th edition of the series. It is organised by the Global Network on Environmental Science and Technology (Global NEST) jointly with the University of the Aegean (Greece), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and the University of Salerno (Italy).
The conference comes at a time when environmental pressures are increasingly interconnected. Climate change is accelerating the depletion and contamination of water resources, while more frequent extreme weather events are testing the resilience of the infrastructures and communities. Biodiversity, already weakened by habitat loss and pollution, faces further pressure as ecosystems shift. At the same time, the transition to circular and bio-based economic models and the rapid development of digital and AI-driven tools are opening new ways to monitor, manage and restore the environment.
CEST2027 will address these challenges through keynote lectures, parallel oral and poster sessions, special sessions organised by research groups and international projects, and side events that encourage dialogue between research, business and policy. Early-career researchers and PhD students are especially welcome.
CEST in numbers. The previous edition, CEST2025 on Kos Island, gathered over 350 participants from 57 countries, with over 40 sessions, more than 430 presentations of papers and 22 invited speeches.
Breaking with a long-standing tradition of island settings, this year’s conference will take place in Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and the Balkans, from 1 to 4 September 2027.
Join us to build connections, share ideas, and work towards a meaningful environmental impact!
