Efstathia Eleni Tzivelou is a PhD candidate in the Department of Environment at the University of the Aegean, where she also earned her undergraduate degree. She holds a MSc in Water Resources Science and Technology, specializing in Environmental Engineering, from the School of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. Her master’s thesis focused on evaluating methane production through the anaerobic co-digestion of sludge and acid whey.

 

She is conducting her doctoral research under the supervision of Professor Dimitrios-Fragkiskos Lekkas. Her dissertation is entitled “Development of Circular Biotechnological Cultivation Systems of Arthrospira platensis for Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Biofixation and Sustainable Biomass Production”. Her research focuses on developing circular cultivation systems for Arthrospira platensis for carbon dioxide biofixation and sustainable biomass production.

 

She has worked on the Bioeconomy and BioFairNet research projects. Her scientific work includes a publication in the Euro-Mediterranean Journal for Environmental Integration and contributions to international conferences on the circular economy, waste valorization and biotechnology.
