25 years of the NICOLE network – what have we learned?

Mr. Johan De Fraye is Global Head of Environment, Health, Safety and Remediation at Signify (formerly Philips Lighting). He is responsible for managing Signify’s global performance on health and safety at its operations, its contaminated site portfolio and environmental decommissioning and demolition of its infrastructure. Prior to joining Signify he has worked in both consultancy and industry, lastly for CH2M HILL (now acquired by Jacobs Engineering) as their EMEA environmental business leader. He has over 30 years of experience managing environmental issues, projects and teams worldwide. He is also the Chair of NICOLE, a European network bringing together practitioners in contaminated land management from industry, consultancies and academia. Johan started his career in Belgium, then worked for 8 years from the UK and is currently based in the Netherlands. He has a MSc in Earth Sciences from Leuven University.
